Pop progresivo: Oh Caroline

'We'll try to make the music work, we'll try to have some fun'.

'David's on piano, and I may play on a drum
And we'll try to make the music work, we'll try to have some fun
But I just can't help thinking that if you were here with me
I'd get all my thoughts in focus and play more excitingly'.

Como en 'Moon in June':

'Just before we go on to the next part of our song
Let's all make sure we've got the time
Music-making still performs the normal functions
Background noise for people scheming, seducing, revolting and teaching
That's all right by me, don't think that I'm complaining
After all, it's only leisure time, isn't it?'

This is the first verse
This is the first verse
This is the first verse, the first, the first
And this is the first verse, verse, first verse
And this is the first verse, verse
This is the first verse

And this is the chorus
Or perhaps it's a bridge
Or just another part of the song that I'm singing

And this is the second verse
It could be the last verse
This is the second verse, second verse, second verse
It could be the last verse, last verse
And this is the second verse
But it's probably the last one

And this is the chorus
Or perhaps it's a bridge
Or just another key change
Never mind, it doesn't hurt
It only means that I lost faith in this song
'Cause it won't help me reach you...

memoria y entendimiento,
fuerza de gallo castizo.
Cual vendaval de granizos
han de florear los vocablos,
que han de asombrar hasta al diablo
con muchas bellas razones,
como en las conversaciones
entre San Pedro y San Pablo.

También, señores oyentes,
se necesita instrumento,
muchísimos elementos
y compañero elocuente.
Ha de ser buen contendiente,
conocedor de la historia;
quisiera tener memoria
para entablar desafío,
pero no me da el sentío
pa' finalizar con gloria.

Al hablar del instrumento
diríjome al guitarrón,
con su alambre y su bordón:
su sonoro es un portento.
Cinco ordenanzas le cuento,
tres de a cinco, dos de a tres,
el clavijero a sus pies,
la entrastadura elegante.
Cuatro diablitos cantantes
debe su caja tener.

Y pa' cantar a porfía
habrá que ser tocadora,
arrogante la cantora
para seguir melodía,
garantizar alegría
mientras dure el contrapunto,
formar un bello conjunto,
responder con gran destreza:
Yo veo que mi cabeza
no es capaz para este asunto.

Por fin, señores amables,
que me prestáis atención,
que habéis hallado razón
de hacerle quite a este sable:
mas no quiero que se entable
contra mí algún comentario:
pa' cominillo en los diarios
sobran muchos condimentos.
No ha de faltarme el momento
que aprenda la del canario.
